Abstract: Simulations using a two way coupled hydrodynamic/acoustic splitting approach can cover all low Mach number aeroacoustic phenomenons and give insights into the coupling mechanisms between flow and acoustics. The present work focuses on the production of vorticity by acoustic fields. In one phase fluids without heat spots (like isentropic gases) the production of vorticity is only possible due to the coupling of incompressible velocity and sound particle velocity by no slip boundary conditions for the complete velocity U+u*=0 (R.Ewert and J. Kreuzinger, JCP 2021). Two examples will be shown: The development of an acoustic boundary layer over a flat plate and the vortex shedding at an abrupt change in cross section of an acoustic waveguide at high acoustic amplitudes (D. Marx et al., Acta Acustica 2008).
