Air traffic auralization: Modeling and synthesis of drones (en)

Abstract: The goal of acoustic source modeling for auralizations is to determine accurate source signals and corresponding directivities of technical or environmental noise sources. This work presents an auralization model of a drone by using a measurement-based inverse approach. Based on the compensation of sound propagation effects on measurement data, the specific focus of this work is on the modeling of the temporal fluctuations in the tonal source components. Furthermore, the application of the drone model in a virtual urban outdoor scene is demonstrated as motivation for further research on well-being and comparison studies of urban soundscapes.
