Abstract: Vacuum cleaners remain among the loudest and most annoying household appliances. The primary objective of this study is to establish a model for the annoyance evaluations of canister-type vacuum cleaners. Fifteen canister-type vacuum cleaners with different sound power levels and maximum electrical powers were selected and their noise were recorded both on hard floor and carpet conditions. The range and distribution of the psychoacoustic parameters across the recordings were analyzed for each condition. Subsequently, a listening test was conducted to obtain annoyance estimations. Meanwhile, to complement this quantitative data, a free interview was employed, providing verbal feedback on the noise perceptions. In conclusion, a linear regression model was developed to predict annoyance perception, facilitating a comparison of sound quality across the tested devices.
