Abstract: Virtual Acoustics (VA) is the open-source real-time auralization framework developed at the Institute for Hearing Technology and Acoustics, RWTH Aachen University. Its modular structure allows the (real-time) auralization of various acoustic scenarios from simple free-field conditions to complex room acoustic and outdoor scenarios with dynamic sources and background noise. For this purpose, the software interfaces different sound propagation models considering different propagation effects. Furthermore, it is possible to render signals in multiple spatialization formats including binaural, Ambisonics and VBAP and use respective reproduction methods for headphones and loudspeaker arrays. While this modularity gives a high degree of freedom, the various configuration possibilities and the different interface options are a potential obstacle for new users. To improve the usability and accessibility of the software, a series of plug-and-play tutorials was developed with the goal of giving insight on the underlying modules without overwhelming new users. This includes applied examples for the aforementioned room acoustic and outdoor scenarios. This contribution presents the concept of those tutorials and includes a live demonstration at the conference.
